As a project manager, you may encounter team members, consultants, contractors, or influential stakeholders who are difficult to work with. While each conflict will be different, there are project management tools you can use to rectify a situation. By acting as a problem solver and successfully managing conflict, you can create an environment that is conducive to working toward a common goal as a unit.
In your initial post, address the following:
- Without identifying the individual by name, describe a time when you had to work with a difficult person to complete a professional or personal project. How was the difficult person impacting the project?
- Based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicators, what do you think this person’s personality type was? What are the strengths and weaknesses of this personality type? What is your personality type? How did it influence your relationship with this person?
- Based on what you have learned, what steps would you take now to manage this conflict? Why?
